Douglas E. Nook
Douglas E. Nook born August 17, 1946, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27th, 2024. Doug was the first child born to Edward & Josephine Nook and the oldest of 5. Born and raised in Palo Alto and a graduate of Palo Alto High class of 1964. After high school Doug attended Foothill College and later went on to work as a butcher for a large grocery store chain. He worked very hard, sometimes double shifts, so he could retire young and enjoy his retirement years. Doug was a good husband, brother, father, uncle, & grandfather. He would have been married this November for 24 years to his beautiful, charming, and loving wife Natasha. Doug loved to spend his retirement years fixing up his rental homes, traveling, and spending time at the family lake house in Clear Lake, Ca. Doug was known as “PaPa” to the neighborhood kids and enjoyed teaching them how to fish and play baseball. After all he was an excellent baseball player himself and a great athlete overall. It didn’t hurt he was 6’3” tall. When Doug gathered with family and friends he loved sharing memories of his high school days, family history from both his father and mother’s side, and he always knew how the stock market closed for the day. Some of Doug’s favorite retirement memories were spent traveling with his lovely wife to amazing places all over the world, Moscow was his favorite, claiming it was the most beautiful country he had ever seen. Doug liked his sports cars, and his old cars! He recently sold his 1973 Beetle and still has his 1990 Bronco sitting next to his new Porsche and Acura. Doug is preceded in death by his father, Edward (1978), his mother, Josephine (2011), his brother, Gary (2014) and his sister, Maureen Kenney (2020). He is survived by his wife, Natasha Nook, his two younger sister’s, Marianne & Kathy, a son Doug, his two nieces, Allison Jones (Jon) and Ellie Bonnett, his nephew Jason Kenney (Serena), his great nephews, Benjamin & Branden, along with seven grandchildren residing in Russia and one in Nevada.
