After an academic career of writing and documentary making, I turned to writing memoir-like books. CLEFT HEART is a story of a kid being bullied for his incomprehensible cleft-palate nasal speech. He digs deep with the support of family and the Palo Alto community to overcome his disability. Eventually, he debates alongside former Secretary of State John Kerry at Yale and marries a fellow Paly grad.
