Peter M. Donley obituary, 1937-2023, Oakland, CA

                               PETER M. DONLEY
                              January 29, 1937 - December 7, 2023

A true Californian and a loyal Old Blue, Peter Michael Donley was born in Berkeley on Jan. 29, 1937, and died at age 86 in Oakland on Dec. 7 from complications following surgery.

A graduate of Palo Alto High School in 1954 and the University of California, Berkeley, in 1958, Peter worked in the pharmaceutical industry and was one of the first developers of generic drug marketing. He was active in offshore boat racing, and won numerous races, including first place in the 1997 Revo Factory 1 Class, F1-10 race.

Peter is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Uitti; his former wife, Georgean Clark Donley Behrhorst; and his three grandchildren, Connor Donley (Danielle), Shannon Donley, and Ryan Donley. Sadly, his three sons predeceased him; Peter Michael Donley, Jr. (Michele), Clark Donley (Mary), and Patrick George Donley (Sally Musser Camp).

Peter was a complex personality who intrigued all who knew him. He had the capacity for deep love and deep friendship, and an extraordinary sense of humor. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

A memorial gathering will be held on Jan. 26, 2024, at 2 p.m., at The Old Homestead in Crockett, Calif. For more information, please contact marybethuitti@gmail.com or visit www.theoldhomestead.org.
