In Memory

Janice Erma Reynolds - Class Of 1953

JANICE REYNOLDS left us October 5th. At Paly she was active in our choir and on the Brunch Committee. She lost her husband of 50 years in 2004 and leaves three children and three grand-children. In recent years she lived in Saratoga, CA. Please send in your memories of Janice for a future newsletter.

JANICE's son Peter provided some additional information to that reported in the last newsletter: “Born and raised in Mt. Vernon, WA, Janice’s family moved south to Oregon and finally to Palo Alto for more sunshine. After graduation Jan worked as a technical secretary at SRI to put her husband Bill through graduate school at Stanford, where he eventually became chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department. They lived in a house Bill designed and built, and spent sabbatical years in London, Pennsylvania and Pasadena, and traveled extensively around the world. Jan’s favorite place to visit was France, and she spent many years learning the language and participating in French groups as well as tutoring.

“Jan sang for over 15 years with the Aurora Singers, which included exchange visits with a group from France. She was also interested in genealogy, and did extensive work building her family tree. A friend recently commented about Jan’s sharp intellect and quiet grace, and others who knew her would agree. She had a wonderful wit and regularly bested her opponents at Scrabble. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children and her loving companion for over a decade, Denis Mee. A small private service was held on October 21st, her 82nd birthday.
