Elizabeth "Betsey" Wallick Danon

1929 - 2021

Elizabeth Anne Wallick was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Palo Alto, California, to the late Guy Phillip Wallick and Florence Kenneth Keys. Her husband, Renato Danon, and son, Guido Danon, predeceased her. She is survived by her daughters, Giuliana Vural and Felicia Danon North, and daughter-in-law Sheri Danon. She was the proud grandmother of Andriana, Turan, Zerrin and Christopher, and great-grandmother of Vera.

Betsey graduated from Mills College with a B.A. in occupational therapy. After an international life, she became an elementary school teacher, establishing The Keys School in Palo Alto. She began a lifelong love affair with Pinecrest when her father built a cabin there in the 1930s. Accordingly, she chose to settle in Sonora in 1981 where she managed the Sierra Foothills Residential Care home for the developmentally disabled, retiring at age 80.

Betsey was loving, fair, outspoken, opinionated, warm-hearted, stubborn, generous, an avid hiker and skier well into her 70s, and a consummate planner of a variety of fun and educational activities for friends and family. We remember her with great fondness and love and will miss her tremendously.
