Fred passed away on 9 June, 2017 of a stroke. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty of 58 years and two children: Victoria and Jeff along with 3 grandchildren. 

Fred retired in 1987 from the U.S.  Fish and Wildlife Service as Regional Director in Portland, Oregon. 

Subsequent to his retirement, he and Betty enjoyed golfing, skiing and hiking in the High Desert for the past 30 years.
