H. Patricia "Pat" (Manley) Bishop Summers

Age: 91 - DOB: 1927 - DOD:  12-31-2019

Residence: Sutter Creek, California

 

 

H. Patricia "Pat" (Manley) Bishop Summers entered eternity on December 31, 2019. Born in 1927 in Oroville, CA to Edward Patrick Manley and Hazel Alberta Shorter.  They moved to Palo Alto where Pat grew up. She was a 1945 graduate of Palo Alto High School.  Pat enjoyed keeping up with Paly alumni. 

Upon completing business school he was the first secretary to the purchasing agent at Hewlett-Packard.  She was an avid bowler, and later worked as Bookkeeper for a 40-lane bowling alley and instructor.  She and her bowling partner represented Northern Californnia at numerous WBC tournaments. In 1958 she and her bowling partner represented Northern Californnia in the National Doubles in New York placing 8th in the nation.

Due to a back injury, Pat gave up bowling and worked as a bookkeeper for a physical therapy office before moving to Amador County.  Her husband, Jay opened Amador Equipment Company in 1966 later moving the business to Hwy 88 and Ridge Road (at the Big Man). 

Pat suffered heart failure during surgery for a broken hip due to a recent fall. Having suffered from muscular degeneration and the placement of two pacemakers, life was getting hard for her. 

She was married to Wayne Bishop and later to Jay Summers.  She wa predeceased by her only child, Michael E. Bishop (Paly, Class of 1965).  She was a resident of Sutter Creek, California at the time of her death. 

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Jay Summers; her only child, Michael Bishop and her brother, Edward Manley.  She is survived by a niece, Marueen Stiley, great nephew, Blue Stile of Seattle, WA, and nephew, Eddie Manley of Reno, NV

Graveside services will be at Keystone Mausoleum, Sunset View, Cemetery, Jackson, CA on January 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.  Contributions to chairty at donor's choice.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.danerimortuary.com and signing the guest book.
