In Memory

Mark Thomas Evans - Class Of 1949

                                                    THOMAS "CURT" EVANS

                                                                     DOD: April 14, 2021

Thomas "Curt" Evans passed away April 14, 2021 peacefully at home after many years dealing with COPD, diabetes and related issues.

He was the oldest in a family of five born in a small town in Iowa to Danish/Norwegian/Welsh parents. When he was still a boy his family and four siblings moved to Palo Alto. He spent most of his life in the Bay Area, Santa Cruz, and the Central Coast with a short stint in the U.S. Army.

Curt had many friends from growing up in Palo Alto, and playing golf and basketball, both in the army and at San Jose State. He never met anyone with whom he did not talk or share a joke. For many years he was a salesman at which he excelled. First, he sold C&H sugar to grocers and later liquor to bars and restaurants on the Central Coast. Later in life he was a bartender at several restaurants culminating with Lorene's Packing Shed. After that, for twenty plus years, he sold promotional products to all of the business and agricultural people he knew. As a result of all his contacts, acquaintances and friends, he never went anywhere, even on long trips, that he did not run into someone he knew or knew him.

He greatly loved sports and was very fortunate to have attended many baseball, football, golfing and basketball events. He was not above attending cultural events; one of his favorite stories was the time he was attending a ballet in San Francisco when Joe Montana made "the catch" which he only saw on a TV in the lobby. He would undoubtedly say his greatest pride was his children and that he wished he could have done more in this world and for them. He is sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by three of his siblings, Kent, Barbara, and Lynn. His oldest sister, Jane, passed away not long after him in early 2022. He is also survived by all of his wives, Liz, Dianne, Janice, and Joan with whom he spent 40 plus years. He is survived by four of his children, Jeffrey, Cyndi, Craig and Chris. One of his five children, Scott, tragically died at the age of two. He is also survived by a large number of nieces, nephews and extended relatives; his mother alone was one of nine children.

Due to Covid, there have been no memorial services; however, please feel free to go to an online video made by his daughter.
