BARBY JANE (nee Romney) PETERSON VAUGHAN  

DOD: June 24, 1969 - June 25, 2022

Barby Peterson Vaughan, 52, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at home in Palo Alto on the morning of June 25, 2022.

Barby was raised in Palo Alto, and attended Walter Hays Elementary School, Jordan Junior High School, and graduated from Paly in 1987, followed by Foothill College and De Anza Colleges, Brigham Young University for one year, and San Jose State University.  Barby was an avid swimmer and diver and loved being in the water or at the beach whenever she could. She also loved singing and at one point released an album and ran a small record label, Blue Dolphin Records (not to be confused with another label of the same name). In recent years she returned to live with her mother in the same house she lived in during high school, and where her two sons are still being raised. 

Barby is survived by her daughter Barbara M. ("Babs") Peterson of Brooklyn, New York, who graduated from Castilleja School and Bucknell University, her twin boys, Nathan and Trevor Vaughan, who currently attend Greene Middle School; her mother Barby Little; her father David Romney of Utah and Idaho; two brothers, Charles Romney (Paly '86) and Alden Romney (Paly '91); cousins, Mariska Romney Martin and Sabrina Romney Lloyd, and husband Matthew Vaughan (Paly '86).
