Miles John Johnson, 88, passed away on December 24, 2022. He was born May 13, 1934 in St. Paul Minnesota, to Stanley and Edith Johnson. In 1948, Stanley and Edith packed Miles and his brothers Doug and Dan into the family car, and moved from St. Paul to Palo Alto, CA.

Miles was quick to make friends in Palo Alto, and those friendships he maintained his entire life. He was a memorable guy in size and personality - 6'6" with a quick wit and big smile for everyone. He met his future bride, Claire, at Palo Alto High. He graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1952, and she in 1954.

In 1955 he joined the Army where he served for two years, returning home to Palo Alto in January 1957. He and Claire were married in February 1957. They both attended San Jose State University and graduated in 1958. They started their early married years in San Jose, eventually settling in Sunnyvale. They raised their three children in Sunnyvale, where they lived for 25 years.

Miles was an avid golfer, and had several Holes-in-One over his lifetime. He and his Palo Alto pals participated in countless golf tournaments and traveled for golf games. He was a mortgage professional and a great family man. He was a hilarious storyteller, and his jokes kept his friends and family laughing. He was a very gentle and kind man, well-loved by all who knew him. After their children were grown and on their own, Miles and Claire moved from Sunnyvale to the Villages in San Jose and lived there for 8½ years. In 2002, they moved to the Trilogy Golf Community at Glen Ivy to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He never got tired of the beautiful view of the 10th fairway from his back patio.

Miles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Claire, in 2014, after 56 years of marriage. Survived by children Grant Johnson (Elise), Sandy Johnson (Tahmus Rounds), and Ryan Johnson (Christy), brother Dan Johnson, grandchildren Miles, Dain, Cameron, Cassidy, and Carly, along with five nieces and nephews. His love and laughter will be sorely missed by his family and dear friends.
